Tips for proper recycling
Recycling is currently the best solution for handling plastic waste. The current global trend is to reduce the use of non-mandatory plastic, such as cups, straws, and disposable utensils, which will greatly reduce plastic waste, on the one hand, and to recycle plastic packaging, which cannot be substantially reduced or for which alternative packaging (including degradable packaging – see the explanation) does not offer a real solution from the perspective of all the production and life cycle stages on the other hand. Recycling is therefore a significant part of the handling of plastic waste, even if it is not perfect. Europe and other parts of the world are trying to improve and streamline the process in different ways. Naturally, we hope that the recycling process will be more efficient and Continuously improved.
Beyond that, there is more work to be done on public awareness and cooperation regarding recycling. This is critical, because without public cooperation, recycling simply won’t happen. Our objective in this page is to offer tips for simple, effective, and better recycling, thereby heightening awareness about it.
Emphases and tips for proper recycling
At Plasto-Vack, we recycle all our residual raw material, which is shredded so that it becomes new packaging. Do you also recycle? Below are some tips to help you recycle properly.
- First, proper recycling begins with the desire to do good… but not just that. Recycling at home has to be prepared in advance. The recycle bin can be a basket, box or any sufficiently large container that can hold a weekly quantity of recyclable bottles and other plastic waste. We advise consumers to prepare two bins – one for deposit bottles and the other for non-deposit packaging. (It is simply easier than separating them when going to the deposit machine.)
- Collecting deposit packaging can serve as nice pocket money for children and become part of their Education for ethics and values.
- Note that, in addition to bottles, it is possible to recycle other packaging, such as the plastic packaging that Plasto-Vack manufactures, and packaging bearing the Class 1 and Class 5 recycling labels (these recycling labels are stamped on the bottom of the packaging and usually state the kind of material used in its manufacture). Note that multilayered packaging (such as milk containers and other kinds of plastic covered cartons) cannot be recycled.
- Try to put relatively clean packaging into the recycle bin (i.e. bottles with no liquids inside and packaging with no residual food). That alone greatly simplifies the recycling process.
- Avoid using disposable utensils of any kind as much as possible (their use creates a serious environmental problem). Disposable utensils account for a major share of plastic pollution in the oceans and stopping their use involves no major effort or problem.
- Go to the nearest recycling bin/cage and/or deposit machine once a week to empty your container.
